The RRS HLF-3C presents the final addition to the esteemed Passive EQ Collection. Featuring 12 dB per octave low and high cut filters, this plugin offers extensive vintage tonal shaping capabilities or the ability to create nostalgic effects reminiscent of eras past, all without the signal degradation commonly associated with passive hardware units.
Effortlessly eliminate unwanted frequencies from any instrument or subgroup to ensure a harmonious placement in the mix.
The original HLF-3C hardware unit adheres to a true passive design ethos, devoid of input/output amplifiers and external power dependencies. Consequently, this design leads to a fundamental signal level reduction during usage. The RRS HLF-3C plugin adroitly addresses this inherent signal loss, ensuring streamlined utility in contemporary production environments by providing unity gain upon activation (no signal loss until filter engagement).
The intuitive HLF-3C interface boasts only three primary controls:
<ul>
<li>Enable: A toggle switch serving as the plugin bypass functionality. In the bypassed state (down position), all plugin processing is deactivated, while engaging the switch (up position) activates the plugin. This feature allows for easy comparison between processed and unprocessed signals.</li>
<li>Low Cut: A rotary switch that dictates the low cut filter's cutoff frequency. Select from ten frequencies: 50, 80, 100, 150, 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, and 2000 CPS.</li>
<li>High Cut: Another rotary switch that determines the high cut filter's cutoff frequency. Choose from ten frequencies: 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15 KCS.</li>
</ul>
To integrate the HLF-3C plugin into your workflow, you will require an AUv3-compatible host application such as GarageBand, Auria, AUM, Cubasis, and more. The plugin will appear in the host app's list of Audio Unit extensions for effect plugins upon installation.
